Livestock production is often implicated as the largest contributor to environmental issues related to the food system (especially climate change, water use, nutrient cycling, antibiotic resistance, land use, etc.).
The concept of regenerative grazing, which has been shown to significantly increase soil carbon content by drawing carbon from the atmosphere, is leading some people to question whether the carbon footprint of grass-grazed meat
is as high as is often published or if alternative production systems could have a significantly more positive story. Some evidence has emerged that there is a potentially a net- positive impact to raising meat with regenerative practices.
